LAST WEEK OF SEPTEMBER 2020...

LAST WEEK OF SEPTEMBER 2020... The last week of September is going to be a busy and active one! Indeed, while on Monday the Montreal and Quebec City regions should fall back into the "red" zone because of the Coronavirus; on Tuesday, two major debates will be held, first will be the Annual Meeting of the Museum of Fine Arts and the Nathalie Bondil affair at 5 p.m. on the Internet; and at 8 p.m. the first of three debates between the American President Donald J. Trump and aspiring Joe Biden. Have a great week! www.lestudio1.com

SUNDAY OF SEPTEMBER IN THE COUNTRYSIDE

SUNDAY OF SEPTEMBER IN THE COUNTRYSIDE -
By Bernard Bujold -
The first weekend of autumn 2020 (September 27th) was a kind of Indian summer...
The nature was nice and if the colors were not yet totally out, the show was pleasant and relaxing. Have a nice autumn 2020!

PRESIDENT DONALD J. TRUMP NOMINATED AMY CONEY BARRETT FOR THE US SUPREME COURT.
By Bernard Bujold -
President Trump on Saturday announced he has chosen Amy Coney Barrett as his pick to fill the Supreme Court seat vacated by the late Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg -- a move that could significantly shift the nation's highest court to the right if she's confirmed by the Senate.

REPORT ON THE MONTREAL MUSEUM OF FINE ARTS

REPORT ON THE MONTREAL MUSEUM OF FINE ARTS -
By Bernard Bujold-
The investigation report on the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts is available online and the Ministry intends to change the law to better control the use of its grant.
Moreover, according to my reading of Daniel Beaupré's report, Pierre Bourgie would be in conflict of interest to hold the presidency of the museum because of his music room (Article 9 of the report on page 16 and paragraph 2.3 on page 31). The new president may have to resign even before being appointed.

JOSÉE BLANCHETTE AND HER NEW NOVEL : MON (JEUNE) AMANT FRANÇAIS

JOSÉE BLANCHETTE - MON (JEUNE) AMANT FRANÇAIS-
By Bernard Bujold -
To change from my political readings and the Coronvirus depression, I read Josee Blanchette's new novel: "MY (YOUNG) FRENCH LOVER" (written in French).
I have never been a fan of Chick Literature romance novels but Josee's book is written more as a biography of modern life and the challenge of love between two people. Josée's book reads like one of her Le Devoir chronicles, in the same style of writing, but spread over 223 pages.
I personally loved it and had a great time!

THE MONTREAL MUSEUM OF FINE ARTS - VOTING FOR BOARD MEMBERS

THE MONTREAL MUSEUM OF FINE ARTS -
VOTING FOR BOARD MEMBERS-
By Bernard Bujold -
Notice of the annual meeting of the Museum of Fine Arts was sent to members by email last Tuesday (September 15) with an individual participation code (control). The virtual meeting (computer, smartphone or tablet) is called for Tuesday, September 29, 2020 at 5:00 p.m.
Le Devoir has published the names of the eight candidates to replace four positions to be filled by vote. Four of the nominees identify themselves as member representatives while four others have the official support of the current Board of Directors.
The result of the vote will be an assessment of whether or not member power really exists! To be continued...

THE FUTURE OF THE MONTREAL MUSEUM OF FINE ARTS

MONTREAL MUSEUM OF FINE ARTS
By Bernard Bujold-

NATHALIE BONDIL, the former director of the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts has filed a $2 million lawsuit against the institution. Nathalie Bondil is seeking $1 million in moral damages and another $1 million in punitive damages.

At the Museum level, Pierre Bourgie has been identified to replace Michel de La Chenelière as the next President of the Museum and to recruit Nathalie Bondil's replacement. However, his nomination must await the annual meeting of September 29.

It is worth mentioning that Quebec's Minister of Culture, Nathalie Roy, received the report of the independent expert who had been commissioned to shed light on the crisis shaking the Museum (MBAM) and Nathalie Bondil. The Ministry did not want to confirm whether the report will be made public before the annual general meeting of members to be held on September 29. https://www.ledevoir.com/culture/586089/mbam-quebec-etudie-l-audit-externe

In addition, the analysis by a law professor (Université Laval) offers an interesting look at the situation of the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts and the dismissal of Nathalie Bondil. http://www.contact.ulaval.ca/article_blogue/gouvernance-du-mbam-5-lecons-a-retenir/

GOODBYE SUMMER 2020 -

GOODBYE SUMMER 2020 -
By Bernard Bujold -
We could say that unfortunately the summer season 2020 did not exist so much because the coronavirus prevented us to take full advantage of the beautiful weather. But nature was there, despite our absence. Best regards to the Summer 2020 that is leaving us and wish that the 2021 season will be more pleasant and full of activities. To be continued...

THE MONSTER COMES INTO TOWN-

THE MONSTER COMES INTO TOWN-
By Bernard Bujold -
The Coronavirus Monster is once again at the gates of the city and a second wave of contamination seems to be on the way. How to fight the Monster? The problem is that he is invisible and he can be everywhere. A kind of Holy Spirit (good), but in an evil version (evil)!
The destruction caused by the Coronavirus goes beyond the disease alone because it is our entire civilization, its economy and organized life structures, which is destroyed indirectly by the virus.
We can hope for a rebirth of the society but it will take decades before it is established.
In the meantime, even if the giant sculpture "SOURCE", by the Spaniard Jaume Plensa, watches over the city at the Bonaventure entrance; it is always better to protect yourself individually...
Good luck to all and watch your backs because the Invisible Monster is everywhere...
