Art Exhibition by artist Winston McQuade

The artist Winston McQuade will open this weekend, Saturday November 20th, a new exhibition of his works entitled VIRAGES @ Villeray presented at the Espace Projet Gallery.
(Address of gallery: 353 Villeray Street at the corner of Drolet near Tennis Stadium). The exhibition runs until December 3.
Winston McQuade had a distinguished career in television but decided, some ten years ago, to return to its first status as a professional artist of visual arts and reconnect with a passion that inspired him since the time where he attended the Ecole des Beaux Arts in Quebec.
Winston had several exhibitions to his name and his artistic sytle joined the one of Armand Vaillancourt, Vittorio, and in some respects, the one of Diane Dufresne. Winston McQuade's paintings are vibrant and very popular with the public.
In its new exhibition, there is a piece he created in tribute to his daughter Penelope McQuade, a popular host on television in Quebec.

Polar bears in Montreal...

Officials from the Place Ville Marie in Montreal have decided this year not to invite their usual angels for Christmas but rather a family of polar bears. Indeed several families of big white polar bears... They are very nice and some of them even sing in front of visitors.
A magnificent decor worth seeing.

The pursuit of Pierre-Karl Peladeau against CBC ...

Sylvain Lafrance, Vice-President of French Services at CBC had no right to call Pierre-Karl Péladeau (Quebecor) hooligan. But the debate is in front of the wrong court. It is to the federal government to judge whether a vice-chairman of a Crown corporation may treat his colleagues in the industry of thug. It is the MPs that should discuss the good or ill-founded comments by Sylvain Lafrance.

An evening at the Artist's studio - Stephania Gambaroff

A few years ago (in 2005), the creator of the website LeStudio1.com, Bernard Bujold, discovered a young Russian-born artist who had just landed in Montreal with her two parents also artists.
"I had then said to her that if she were a horse race, I would bet on it! "
Stephania Gambaroff today is based in New York and commutes between Montreal and the american city.
Bernard saw Stephania last Friday night (November 12, 2010) at the private studio of her parents on Pine Avenue in Montreal. "Stephania continues to be the Racing Horse that I had known at the time in 2005!"

The Memoirs of Georges W. Bush

The memoirs of George W. Bush will surely become a best seller and the book is worth reading.
A book that lifts the veil on American politics and in particular the years of the presidency of George Bush the son. Several anecdotes just make Bush more sympathetic and they make us better understand the difficulties of modern political life.
A book to read!

A trip around Canada

The photographer Bertrand Lemeunier teamed with journalist Eric Clement OF La Presse and he published a photo book "O Canada". Both authors had previously published "French of Montreal" (La Presse). The new book recounts the Canadian tour of Lemeunier on his bike. A beautiful book whose image are of high quality. The photographer, however, has a major challenge to overcome because it has no publisher or distributor and he published his book himself. For this reason, the book is not available in major bookstores and it must be ordered directly from Lemeunier. Too bad because it is a book which would deserves to be in store!

The Montreal Mafioso Nicolo Rizzuto

Montreal Mafioso Nicolo Rizzuto's (86 years) died as a sort of War General in service. He was hit by a bullet Wednesday night in the kitchen of his residence and he died instantly. The sniper would have shouted his firearm from the small wooded area behind the house.
In a sense, Rizzuto wanted this kind of violent death and he died in battle.
For a Man of Honour like him, he would have been much worse to die old without attention. His end is worthy of a movie.

Stories of Music Directors...

One can sometimes be wrong and that was the case of Bernard Bujold, creator of the website LeStudio1.com, with respect to the music conductor Yannick Nezet-Seguin ...
"I remember seeing Nezet-Seguin for the first time in 1996 leading a small unknown band of Montreal musicians at McGill University. I was invited there because the organizers wanted Quebecor to sponsorship Seguin. He was 21 years and he "jumped" continually on stage. This bothered me and I left at intermission convinced that the young music director would go nowhere.
A few years later (in 2000), Chief Joseph Rescigno was fired by the Montreal's Orchestre Métropolitain following his behavior toward the president of the orchestra (Jean-Pierre Goyer) ... and this was the beginning of glory for Yannick Nezet-Seguin.
Evidence that the misfortune of some is the cause of happiness and glory for other ...
The journalists in Philadelphia said that Charles Dutoit would have recommended Nezet-Séguin
for his current appointment in Philadelphia. It would seem that Dutoit has not yet forgotten the humiliation he was subjected by the Montreal Symphony Orchestra in 2002 and he was very pleased to support the Chief who is in competition with his former Montreal's orchestra...
