PETER MACKAY LEAVES POLITICS

By Bernard Bujold (LeStudio1) -
Peter MACKAY is leaving politics and Stephen Harper to return to live in New Scotland with his family ... He will not be of the next October election!
His departure may mean that the new dolphin to lead the Conservative Party of Canada would be, as the rumor runs for several months, Jean Charest, who is preparing for the post-Harper in a few years. Sources from the world of politics are running this idea of a comeback by Jean Charest and we do not speak of the next October election. We talk to after that.
Or Harper will want to stay or he will leave in the coming years and this is where Charest would come into play. But that these are projections by stands "managers"...
As for Peter, it is said that his wife, political activist and former beauty queen, Nazanin Afshin-Jam MacKay, wants to do politics. She could be the one that takes over but not with the Conservative Party...
Peter likes to live time at his father's farm more than in Ottawa. The MacKay are a bit the Péladeau of Nova Scotia in the wood industry and as landowner, a notorious family (if not a rich one).
Peter's father, Elmer, is a man of great kindness and generosity with a very deep respect for the people around him. He is himself a former career politician at the time of Brian Mulroney.
I personally have known Elmer during my years in Ottawa and if I had to choose a companion to live and survive on a desert island, I would choose Elmer MacKay. A real good and generous human guys!
The son Peter is a lucky man and fostered by life. He turns 50 in September, when he and his wife expected a second baby (a girl) also in September.

GENIE BOUCHARD - THE FUTURE OF A STAR ...

By Bernard Bujold (LeStudio1) -
Is this the end of the career of Genie Bouchard in tennis?
Two things seem to indicate that this could be the case very soon!
First her statements at a press conference after her crushing defeat Tuesday, May 26 in the first round at Roland Garros 2015 against a player ranked 52nd (Bouchard was 7th in the world rankings at the time of the game).
Genie says that she no longer recognizes herself on the grounds of tennis - in her own words. There is also this recent story published in the fashion magazine FLARE where we learn that Genie has signed with the agency IMG MODELS and that she "loves" the fashion business: "...Right now, Bouchard relishes (greatly enjoy) the off-court opportunities, Especially those related to fashion. Last year, she signed with IMG Models and posed for FLARE and Vogue. Her mantra for everyday dressing is" Stay young, "Because she knows she will not be able to pull off miniskirts forever..."
Several of her Quebec fans will certainly be very disappointed if Genie ever leaves tennis but, as Réjean Tremblay wrote in his newspaper: "Genie has not asked to be the beloved star of Quebecers. It is Quebecers that took possession of her to make their stars from it!"
At the end, Genie may have other, more international and more lucrative ambitions financially...
However, as Andre Agassi said, who has experienced the same kind of difficulties during his own career in tennis, Genie Bouchard must found herself by herself and to know how to make the right choices in her entourage.

ALEC BALDWIN AND GENEVIEVE SABOURIN IN MONTREAL

By Bernard Bujold (LeStudio1) -
The least we can say is that the actor Alec Baldwin is not afraid of anything and he did not hesitate a moment to come and host a conference in Montreal, the city of Genevieve Sabourin, the very one woman that he send before the US Justice (Justice that sent Genevieve six months in prison ...).
Some might see it as a form of provocation...
Alec has nevertheless kept a small reserve by not bringing in Montreal his wife and children but he talked constantly about them during his lecture. He reiterated that his great passions in life are his wife and children.
Alec did not mention the name Genevieve once and the host have not questioned him either...
And concerning Genevieve, as one could understand, she had not been invited by the organizers!

JOURNALIST AT WALMART ... - HUGO MEUNIER

By Bernard Bujold (LeStudio1) -
I had read the story published in La Presse by Hugo Meunier but not his book.
The book telling the story of infiltration as an employee of Walmart for three months by Hugo Meunier is fascinating but especially enlightening about the status of department stores employees.
If there is a conclusion, it is the finding of sadness surrounding the working conditions of Walmart workers... One does not return to those stores without a kind of compassion.
Reading this book also made me take a personal promise: "I'll never be rude to a Walmart employee, or another retail chain..."

FRANÇOIS BUGINGO THE JOURNALIST

By Bernard Bujold (LeStudio1) -
The revelation about François Bugingo's journalist reports that would be false are very upsetting, especially for the Quebec media.
I worked once in person with Bugingo and he had delivered the goods, photos in evidence...
It was the first visit to Canada by Ingrid Betancourt on September 24, 2009 (there were other visits thereafter but organized by his publisher).
The 2009 visit was full of dignitaries from the President of CBC Hubert Lacroix, Governor General Michaëlle Jean, Ambassador of France to Canada François Delattre, the renowned journalist Dennis Trudeau, etc.
François Bugingo was president of Reporters without borders, Canada section.
I have not maintained contact with Bugingo thereafter except on Facebook while we became "friends".
I am sad about Bugingo charges because he was an individual respectful and nice.
But I am also angry against this situation.
If the allegations are false, then La Presse (Isabelle Hachey) will pay the price; if these are true, then it will be the end of what has been the false career of this journalist FRANÇOIS BUGINGO.

MAKAZIWE MANDELA VISITS MONTREAL

By Bernard Bujold (LeStudio1) -
Makaziwe Mandela, daughter of Nelson Mandela, was in Montreal for the day on Friday May 22  and I had the pleasure of sharing a moment with her.
I could almost call her my new friend because I was immediately seduced by her kindness and beautiful smile!
A little more, and I invited her for dinner at the cottage!
The wine produced by her family is also exceptional.
Excellent wines for summer 2015!

LISE THIBAULT - ROBIN HOOD OR QUEEN MARIE ANTOINETTE ...

By Bernard Bujold (LeStudio1) -
The old lady, Lise Thibault, will live a summer 2015 in a total state of terror!
Imagine, she might get 4 years in prison but she will only know the verdict on September 30... According to me she does not deserve this treatment.
I have known Lise Thibault as a journalist and she is not a thief. A horrible and profound pretentious yes, but not a thief!
The big Thibault problem is that she wanted to play the queen and she was without money... You could say she was a kind of Marie Antoinette.
In addition, she was incredibly arrogant and regularly sent off the former Prime Minister Jean Charest. It is even said that she would have replied to a request for a meeting by Charest through her secretary that she was too busy to meet with him for at least a week's notice...
With such direct answers, one do not made many friends among the high society!
Conclusion: Jean Charest now has a nice office on the 42nd floor of the 1000 de la Gauchetière while the former Lieutenant Governor of Quebec, Lise Thibault, risk to have one next fall season on the 1st floor in a prison...

PICNIC AT THE COTTAGE - MAY 2015

By Bernard Bujold (LeStudio1) -
When life is difficult and we want to forget the everyday obstacles and failures, nothing like a picnic at the cottage...
As I often tell my friends: "I never let the bad times of life to spoil other beauties of life!"
In other words, do not talk politics or about PKP to me anymore...
Long live the cottage! Long live picnics! Long live the summer 2015!

QUEBEC A COUNTRY...

By Bernard Bujold (LeStudio1)
-William Johnson, renowned writer and journalist, published in The National Post on Saturday, May 16, 2015 a very precise analysis of the challenge for Pierre Karl Péladeau in achieving its proposed separation of Quebec from Canada.
There are only two options to separate Quebec from Canada: political and legal negotiation or armed revolution (like in Cuba).
Obviously, the second option will never be put forward by Quebecers...
In the separation by negotiation, there are four stages from first the local referendum; compliance with laws in force in the current country of Canada; the agreement of the other provinces to amend the Constitution; and most difficult, from a geographical point of view, to accept that some regions (territories) of Quebec will not join the new country and will remain in Canada like First Nations people and their territories that occupy half the geographical area of Quebec.
The challenges for PKP are enormous and that's not counting the one he will face to survive politically in the National Assembly of Quebec...

THE POWER OF FACEBOOK, TWITTER AND OTHER SOCIAL MEDIAS...

By Bernard Bujold (LeStudio1) -
One must thanks very much Mark Zuckerberg for his creation of Facebook as well as the creators of Twitter.
Before Facebook and Twitter, one must have money and use lawyers to get justice. Now is the law of the truth as found out this funny ex-employee of Hydro One (Ontario) and the reporter Shauna Hunt... (Shauna used twitter to publish her video)
The police forces all over North America are also discovering, at their expense, the new power of social medias.
Long live social medias!

LEADER OF LE PARTI QUÉBECOIS IN 2015 ...

By Bernard Bujold (LeStudio1) -
Members of the Parti Québécois will elect their next leader from Wednesday, May 13, 2015 and normally we will know the result on Friday night May 15 at 9 pm.
Personally, I am what could be called apolitical in the sense that I am not a member of any political party. I do not like the idea of a party but I favor political people according to their personality. When I supported Brian Mulroney in 1984 in Ottawa, it was not for his political party but because of his personality and what I considered an exceptional dynamism.
At the beginning of this PQ campaign, if I had been an active member of the party, my vote would have gone to Jean-François Lisée. He had the profile of a prime minister.
Currently, I deeply wish that Alexander Cloutier wins the race.
I get an average of one email a week since the announcement of the entry into politics of Pierre-Karl Péladeau, wondering why I am not supporting him since I was very close to his father for who I was Executive Assistant until the end of his life.  He even fell into a coma in front of me, on December 2, 1997, almost in my arms, on the floor of his office Quebecor...
I loved the man who was Pierre Péladeau (the father) and we had a very profound loyalty towards each other.
Pierre Péladeau died officially on December 24, 1997 and on January 5, 1998, Quebecor's new senior management immediately thanked me for my services with the clear and precise message that they did not want to see me around anywhere in the enterprise.
I was deeply sad by this...
In addition, it was the Quebec ice storm...
The darkness and the cold of the New Year; the death of my mentor; and becoming an unemployed!
In the months after my dismissal from Quebecor, people that I knew closely, including a leader of a large Quebec company (from the Quebec Inc), told me that Jean Neveu the new CEO of Quebecor would have contacted them to denigrate me and to suggest not to hire me.
I checked this by Jean Neveu and he said, smiling, that he had the right to express his opinion and if I was not happy, just to sue him...
At the time, I did not want to spend money for lawyers in justice nor to pay to gather evidence because I thought it was better to look forward. But it was clear that others were investing efforts to monitor me (probably a private detective) because as soon as I went to a new potential employer interview, someone contacted them immediately. It was like if they were following me on track and that they were trying to prevent me from working!
I finally got an inescapable proof once and it was well documented because I got a job...
I got in early 2001 as a press attaché precisely with the government of Bernard Landry that I had known earlier when I was with Pierre Péladeau (the father). I had discreetly negotiated and when I started working, nobody really knew it. I started on a Monday morning (April 11, the date of birth of Pierre Péladeau...) but at 3 pm on the same day, the chief of staff invited me into her office saying she was sorry because she had just received a call from someone and if the Landry government kept me in the staff, it would do him trouble in the media ...
The chief of staff told me that the order to fire me was coming from executives at Quebecor by means of a large PR agency in Montreal and, after bringing the matter to his attention, Bernard Landry said that he did not want to get involved...
She had no choice to do otherwise! - she repeated to me!
Later in time, early 2003, when I published my biography of Pierre Péladeau, my friend Michel Vastel told me that a senior officer at Quebecor asked him to try to get a copy before publication of the book I was writing about the father of PKP. Michel had refused the request by replying to the person asking that he was not playing this kind game, especially not with a former journalist like me, and worse, he knew me personally.
In short, if I do not support PKP the son, it is because I have my personal reasons!
The beauty of democracy is, however, that everyone is entitled to one vote.
If you are not happy with the result, you have a choice: change of city, province or country; or accept the outcome and live with the choice of the majority.
If ever Pierre Karl Péladeau became Premier of Quebec one day, I will have plenty of time to change territory but we are not yet at this result!
To be continued ... and good luck Alexandre Cloutier!

STORY OF LIFE AND DEATH ....

By Bernard Bujold (LeStudio1) -
I just finished reading the book À PROPOS DE LA VIE, a series of 20 interviews with Quebecers about their view of life and death and published by Éditions La Presse.
A captivating book to better understand what is life and death according to different people, whether one is a believer or not.
I love this kind of writing as it is a subject on which I have often reflected.
Rather than summarize the opinions of the book, I'll share you mine! You can, of course, read the book afterwards...
To me, life is like a theater act and we play several parts in our lifetime. In fact, each piece is a life in itself. Thus we live several lives and several death during our time on earth.
A new job, a new home, a new spouse: these are all new lives.
The loss of a job, selling a home, a separation: these are all mortality in our existence.
Personally I am not a believer but I have hope because I'm a little dreamer and I always hope for the best.
I might add that sometimes, there are on earth the living dead which are people physically alive but morally dead. They have no more passion or dreams!
As for the physical death of the body, as said Steve Jobs, is a switch that is turn off... It's the dark without the light!
My philosophy of life is inspired by several characters but I will mention three.
-My friend Gerard Depardieu who said: "Living is the only thing that counts!" "We must especially be happy!" (Autobiography Ça s'est fait comme ça - XO Editions 2014)
-Jean Coutu, the pharmacist who said that: "... in life happiness is to have projects. Once our projects are reality, it is the end of happiness as money never bring happiness..."
- The musical group TROOPER and their song: "We're Here For A Good Time, Not A Long Time."
Have a good summer 2015 and be happy!
