FINANCIAL WEALTH EXISTS IN MONTREAL IN 2018...
By Bernard Bujold
I almost forgot that financial wealth exists in Montreal!
Indeed, there was a time in the years 1990-2000 when money seemed to be everywhere.
Personally: I was traveling in a helicopter; wore neckties at $200; participated in a multitude of mundane parties, all more expensive than the other, and business projects seemed to have no limit but the imagination!
Since 2010, personally like many others, I took a turn say more voluntary simplicity...
But the world has continued to turn and even though several companies must tighten their belts or disappear (Bombardier, La Presse, Laurentian Bank, etc.) money continues to be excessively present in society.
I had the proof during the weekend while I had fun shopping for a coat for the next winter season.
I wanted to go back to my old dress style and buy a long dark blue wool coat (Donald Trump style).
I started my search at The Bay and found one for about $750.
I continued my walk at Simons and a comparable coat in style was offered at $ 350. I thought my shopping was going to be profitable...
So I decided to keep walking and to go at Ogilvy which is under renovation and announcing sales...
This is where I got back in time!
I found the perfect coat (there were several ...) but when I asked for the price, I was shocked.
The dark blue wool long coat sold for $5,350! I told the salesman that this coat was more suitable for a Donald Trump to which he answered at once: "But it suits you too..." probably thinking me a rich retiree...
I thanked the seller and continued my walk to finally find the bargain, a beautiful long dark blue coat a few streets away, at H &M...
But the conclusion is that financial wealth still exists in Montreal in November 2018, if we must believe the offer of the coat merchants!

THE MORNING OF NOVEMBER 9, 2016
By Bernard Bujold
It was 2 years ago on the morning of November 9, 2016 that US citizens and the whole World woke up to learn that the new President of the United States was Donald J. Trump.
It was the beginning of a new era and a new style in politics, the « non politically correct ».
Personally I predicted the victory of Donald Trump at the very beginning of the race in June 2015 and I was, and still am, very happy with the result.
The morning of November 9, 2016 was for me the arrival of a new beautiful day!

US MIDTERM ELECTIONS 2018
(NOVEMBER 6) -
By Bernard Bujold -
For President Donald TRUMP it was the Senate he wanted to protect and he won.
The Senate is responsible for confirming the President's appointments and bills.
Moreover, and this is important, any attempt to demand impeachment by Congress will be blocked by the Senate which has the final word on any proposal in this sense by the Congress.
Donald Trump did not have enough time to campaign for the hundreds of congressional candidates and he chose the Senate.
Another good sign for him and his power to convince voters is that all the Senate candidates he supported and for whom he held rallies won, including the important Florida seat.
In addition, all the new elected Republican Senators will be loyal to Donald, which was not the case with the former Senate, like Senator John McCain...
Now Donald will be able to start his 2020 campaign in order to win the next presidential election.
In conclusion: the 2018 US Midterm elections were about big campaign money, message and President Donald Trump.
After a tumultuous Election Night, Democrats on Wednesday morning had one of the big prize they desperately wanted: Control of the House of Representatives, but Republicans could claim bragging rights as well by bolstering their hold on the other prize: the US Senate.
Now, the next US political race, which is already started, is for the 2020 Presidential election!
Go Donald! Go!

BERNARD LANDRY (1937-2018)
By Bernard Bujold -
Bernard Landry was a nice character and had politics in his soul!
I first knew him in 1977 when I was a young journalist at the National Assembly of Quebec. It was the beautiful era of René Lévesque and Bernard Landry was recognized as one of the Prime Minister's right hands. Landry was also known for his great kindness and sense of humor.
I came back in contact with Bernard Landry in the late 1990s when I was the assistant to Quebecor Founding President Pierre Péladeau. I often acted as a "messenger" between the two men and Landry has always shown great ethics and politeness. I remember an event where I proposed to the Prime Minister to pick him up in Quebec City and take him to Sainte-Adèle at Péladeau's residence with the Quebecor helicopter for a social event. Landry had thanked me for the offer, but he had immediately refused, saying that Quebec could afford to transport his Prime Minister... He had also kindly explained to me that he did not want in any way lend himself to possible conflicts of interest!
Unfortunately, our relationship ended, so to speak, in 2001 when I got a job with her government and a few hours after taking office, the chief of staff for who I was working for had received a phone call from a senior Quebecor official who advised her that knowing me in the government inherited him deeply. Bernard Landry, who I asked to intervene to calm the game and allow me to keep my job, refused to stand between the heirs of Quebecor and me, an acquaintance who had become more or less a "has been" since the death of Pierre Péladeau father.
That said, I salute the career of Bernard Landry and I like to keep as a memory the beautiful time when I knew him in Quebec city.

DONALD TRUMP AND MOZART ...
By Bernard Bujold-
My next-door neighbor, who is an intellectual in his spare time, asked me why I was more or less concerned about the November 6 US elections since I am a fan of Donald Tump.
For me, the mid-term elections are like everyday anecdotes.
When I listen to Mozart's music, I'm not necessarily interested in the mechanics of the orchestra playing music, but hearing it is enough to warm my soul.
This is so with Donald Trump.
For me, to know that Donald Trump exists in time is enough to comfort my soul, much like listening to Mozart's music. But I do not live my life according to each of the gestures surrounding Donald.
My neighbor was "down to the ground" by my explanation...
This same neighbor had already asked before who I identified with in the Donald's entourage. I told him that if there was a character that looks like me, in a way, it would be Steve Bannon but I'm happy to be me, and I'm proud of being myself, I said to my neighbor !
The neighbor starts to look at me as a kind of intellectual...
