THE CORONAVIRUS AND POLITICAL LEADERS

CORONAVIRUS AND POLITICAL LEADERS
By Bernard Bujold -
The Coronavirus crisis challenges the true value of our political leaders.
My observation is that despite the political polarization, Donald Trump is demonstrating the best leadership in the world while being proactive.
According to Donald Trump's theory: "...We are at war with an invisible enemy (the virus) and the priority is to destroy it and then take care of the economy and fix our organized life... " It cannot be argued that Joe Biden or Bernie Sander would be better fighters against the Coronavirus, both of them being older than the norm, each approaching 80 years of age.
Justin Trudeau's leadership is rather defensive and he tries more to control the damage than to attack the virus and its spread. In the case of Quebec, François Legault is also defensive but is also very proactive in taking action to prevent the transmission of the virus.
In any case, we don't choose our leaders in times of crisis, but we have to live with our pre-crisis choices...
