THE CHILDREN

THE CHILDREN...
By Bernard Bujold -
I have always loved children and the two most important people in my soul are my own two children, David-Bernard and Stephanie.
The death (July 11, 2020) of Norah Carpentier, 11 years old, and her sister Romy Carpentier, 6 years old, probably killed by their father, came to touch me just as did the death of the two children of the St-Jérome cardiologist in 2009. Couples' relationships are always at the center of these tragedies. Why kill the children when the person you hate is your spouse? Probably because the father wants to make the mother suffer and killing her would be too quick as suffering.
I personally went through the divorce in 1991 and I suffered a lot but I never wanted to hurt my children in any way. I accepted that both children would go live with their mother and I forgot about the failure of my marriage to continue.
Basically, a child does not belong to anyone but to himself.
Journalist Richard Martineau went through the same situation as I did and he explains well in his column how he survived. In his case, he consulted a specialist.
In my case, I continued to love my two children from a distance and, in the case of my wife, I simply forgot that she had existed in my life...
In June 1994, I photographed David-Bernard and Stephanie dancing in front of Lake Mont Tremblant. In 2020, this series of photos (DANCING ON THE LAKE) hasn't aged and it shows, in my opinion, all the beauty of children.
